A few years ago, I’m sitting in my new primary care physician’s office with an ache in my wrist. Just what I need when work is picking up. I know the drill; the questions which lead to no answers and a swarm of doctor’s bills and temporary solutions; super. I need to communicate to my new doctor what the pain is like and find a solution.
I start with “My name is Laura and I’m a graphic designer.”
“Oh, your a designer! So is my brother, he has what you have.”
Boom. After $2,000+ in doctor’s bills over a few years, my new doctor just happens to have a family member with a similar issue and found a solution in 5 min. Fantastic! She suggests a vertical mouse and explained to me the ergonomic advantages.
I recommend this to anyone I can. Females especially because we do not have the same type of upper body strength as men.
Back in the old days when we had “office life”, I bought an extra vertical mouse so my coworkers could each try it out. If you took an aerial shot of my cube, almost all the desks around me had one and the popularity was spreading.
Anyway, a $20 purchase on amazon saved my career and made me a happier person. If we’re going to be strapped to a desk for another 30 years, we need to take care of ourselves.
